Tilly:
(singing).
Welcome to another episode of 2 Minutes with Tilly. Today, I’ve got the pleasure of meeting Mr. Calabrese himself, Angelo Pugaliese. How’s that pronunciation?
Angelo:
In Australian, it’s Pugaliese. In Italian, it’s Pugaliese.
Tilly:
Pugaliese?
Angelo:
Pugaliese.
Tilly:
That sounded more Aussie than Italian.
Angelo:
No, that’s easy, comes out easy.
Tilly:
Well, Pugaliese, Pugaliese, take it easy, whichever one you want-
Angelo:
Whatever you want. Yeah.
Tilly:
Thank you very much for joining us.
Angelo:
All good.
Tilly:
It’s been a pleasure. Now, we have had your twin brother on here, the guy on the screen there. What’s that guy’s name? Sam, is that right?
Angelo:
Sam, yeah.
Tilly:
Samgelo yeah. Now Ang tell the folks watching at home mate, what is it that you do here at Retreat Caravans?
Angelo:
Basically I’m a Production Supervisor. And I run the floor, look after the boys, look after the girls, allocate jobs and make sure the vans get out.
Tilly:
Which one’s easier, looking after the boys or the girls?
Angelo:
I’d say the girls.
Tilly:
So Ang, what do you reckon about the setup here? We’ve gone full sushi, mango style. I mean, I hope we don’t get reported or get any fines cause I can’t afford to pay my own bills, let alone their bills. But do you like the little setup here?
Angelo:
Yeah, a hundred percent. All good. But you’ve got plenty of money so you can afford it.
Tilly:
Yeah. I don’t know who you’ve been talking to. All I can say about that is, fuck! So Angelo, how long have you been in the caravan industry for?
Angelo:
Oh, just over 11 years, Tilly.
Tilly:
11 years. So it’s very similar time to me. Now myself, I’ve got hands that are made for keyboards. Whereas yourself, although those nails look pretty manicured, you were on the floor a fair bit before you were into the Production Supervisor role?
Angelo:
Correct.
Tilly:
What have been some of your main areas that you’ve worked in on the floor?
Angelo:
I’ve worked in building. I’ve started off in building and went to QC.
Tilly:
Was that your nickname, Bob?
Angelo:
Bob? No.
Tilly:
Bob the builder?
Angelo:
No. From QC I went to Production Supervisor.
Tilly:
I guess you’ve had a great understanding of how the caravan gets put together in the building department. Obviously a great understanding of how the caravan should go to the dealership being a QC. Now being a Production Supervisor, no doubt you are upholding all of those finer details that we like to put in a Retreat Caravan, so is that the dealership and the customer get a great product.
Angelo:
Hundred percent.
Tilly:
Now your team around you, so you’ve got a lot of people that you work with. Is there one that probably stands out more than another that you like to work with more?
Angelo:
They’re all equal.
Tilly:
Equal, of course.
Angelo:
Respect the boys and I respect the girls and, if I had to choose one, I’d say-
Tilly:
If you had to.
Angelo:
If I had to choose, I’d say Anthony Todd.
Tilly:
Anthony Todd.
Angelo:
Reason being-
Tilly:
Yeah, besides he is your boss, has he paid you for this?
Angelo:
No, he hasn’t.
Tilly:
No. Okay.
Angelo:
He thinks he’s a T-Rex, but you know what Tilly? I think he’s just a big giant teddy bear.
Tilly:
He is a big giant teddy bear.
Angelo:
Hundred percent. Just needs a cuddle.
Tilly:
He always needs a cuddle.
Angelo:
Hundred percent.
Tilly:
And I’m glad that someone else has noticed that because I’m out of cuddles personally. So Anthony’s obviously our production manager and he does a fantastic job here. I want to get him on one of these episodes, but he’s flat-out denied, denied, denied. So Ang, if you can work your magic mate, give him some salami or some, give him something. Just if you can get him here.
Now, Ang, apart from being a collector of a lot of really good things, I believe there’s a special car that you have sitting in your garage at home. We won’t tell people where you live-
Angelo:
Correct.
Tilly:
But what kind of car you got at home?
Angelo:
I’ve got a VK 84, Brock Commodore Group three.
Tilly:
How many routes is that?
So a Brock VK Commodore.?
Angelo:
Yeah.
Tilly:
Now obviously that’s a pretty, what’s it called? No. Obviously that’s a pretty prestigious car to have. I don’t know if my Jeep could really compete with it, but it’s a bit of a collectors item, is it?
Angelo:
Hundred percent, yeah.
Tilly:
On the open market, what’s that probably worth?
Angelo:
It depends on the collector itself. So you’re looking at between 180 to whatever you want to pay.
Tilly:
$180,000.
Angelo:
Starting price.
Tilly:
Starting price?
Angelo:
Starting price.
Tilly:
And you know, you Italians, you like to negotiate a little don’t you?
Angelo:
Oh a hundred percent, but we don’t negotiate price.
Tilly:
No?
Angelo:
No.
Tilly:
What don’t you negotiate? Women, salami, and cars. Well Ang, I’ve been very honoured to have you here on 2 Minutes with Tilly. Now I’ve just got one more favour for you, mate. I’m going to give you a present. But if I give you this present, can we please have a selfie?
Angelo:
Correct. Done.
Tilly:
Here you go Ang-
Angelo:
What do we got?
Tilly:
Here is your own-
Angelo:
Oh, too good.
Tilly:
-personal beanie.
Angelo:
Thank you very much-
Tilly:
So my friend-
Angelo:
Now summer’s coming.
Tilly:
Yeah, now the summer’s coming. Better late than never. Better late than never.
Angelo:
Better late than never.
Tilly:
Let’s have a selfie.
